About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience within our practice by working alongside experienced team members. This internship provides an opportunity to apply your educational background to real-world audit engagements, build professional relationships, and receive coaching as you begin your career.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Assist with various stages of the audit process using BDO-specific audit methodology.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned accounting or audit research project for presentation to a panel of professionals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is preferred; pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting is also preferred.
