About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced team members on various audit engagements. This role focuses on applying your academic background to real-world scenarios, developing organizational skills, and building professional relationships within the accounting field.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support to audit staff during engagements, including preparing and documenting work papers using firm tools and templates.
- Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and engage with team members.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present your findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting (Master's degree pursuit is preferred).
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
