Assurance Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to assist in problem-solving and fact-finding for our client base. This role provides hands-on experience in audit practices and offers an opportunity to build professional relationships within the firm.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Assist with various stages of the audit process using BDO-specific audit methodology.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting is required; a Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Actively pursuing school credits toward CPA eligibility.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
