Assurance Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to gain hands-on experience in the audit practice. This role provides an opportunity to apply your educational background to real-world client engagements while building professional relationships and developing your accounting career.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Assist with various stages of the audit process by applying BDO-specific audit methodology.
• Provide support functions to audit staff throughout engagement lifecycles.
• Communicate with client representatives, including customers, creditors, and banks, regarding audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting is required; a Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment.
