About the role#
BDO USA is hiring a Tax Intern for our Core Tax Services team for the summer of 2027. This role is based in Norfolk, Virginia. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions. This internship provides hands-on experience with firm practices and helps you build professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Ensure client compliance with tax authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Use tax software to complete simple tax returns and assist with quarterly estimates and extensions.
- Respond to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Assist with the projection of year-end filings and components of income tax provisions.
- Research tax law and client developments, communicating findings to the service team.
- Recommend methods to maximize client benefits and decrease current and future taxes.
- Organize files and workpapers to ensure accuracy and minimize rework.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Preference for candidates pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
