About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for the Winter 2028 term. You will work on-site in Houston, Texas. As an intern in Core Tax Services, you will prepare tax returns and extensions while working under the guidance of experienced professionals. This role offers a hands-on look at firm practices and provides an opportunity to build professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Help clients comply with tax authorities while minimizing their tax burdens.
- Organize files and complete tasks to minimize the need for rework.
- Use tax software to prepare simple tax returns.
- Assist with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Help with the projection of year-end filings.
- Perform quarterly estimates and prepare extensions.
- Use research tools to gather tax information and monitor law developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- A masters degree in Accounting or a relevant field is preferred.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
