About the role#
The Tax Intern, Core Tax Services will utilize their educational background and organizational skills to assist our client base. Working under the supervision of experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience with firm practices, prepare tax returns and extensions, and build professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Adhere to firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Use referencing systems and workpapers that tie to returns to minimize rework.
- Assist with quarterly estimates, tax extensions, and projections of year-end filings.
- Utilize tax software to complete simple tax returns for review.
- Support responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Assist in developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by decreasing current and future taxes.
- Operate online research tools to monitor tax law and client developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- A masters degree in Accounting or a relevant field is preferred.
