Tax Intern, Core Tax Services - Summer 2027

About the role#

The Tax Intern, Core Tax Services will utilize their educational background and organizational skills to support our client base. Working under the supervision of experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience with firm practices and begin building professional relationships. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.

What you'll do#

• Ensure client compliance with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
• Adhere to firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
• Use referencing systems and workpapers to tie out tax returns.
• Complete simple tax returns using tax software applications.
• Perform quarterly estimates and prepare extensions.
• Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
• Assist with income tax provision components and apply firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
• Conduct tax research using online tools and monitor tax law developments.
• Develop and communicate viewpoints on how tax developments may affect clients.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting or a relevant field (Master’s degree pursuit preferred).
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
