About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will apply your accounting education to real client engagements. You will work alongside experienced team members who provide coaching and direction. This internship offers a hands-on perspective of our audit practices while you build relationships for your future career.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured training program to learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Gain familiarity with BDO audit methodology to assist with different stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned research project to present to a panel of professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required. A Masters degree is preferred.
- Active pursuit of school credits necessary to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, follow instructions, and communicate clearly.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Richmond, Virginia.
- The position is on-site.
- The term for this role is Summer 2027.
