About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will participate in a structured on-the-job training program to gain hands-on experience in the accounting industry. You will work alongside experienced team members to assist with problem-solving and fact-finding for a diverse client base. This role provides an opportunity to build professional relationships and gain insight into firm practices.
What you'll do#
- Participate in training to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Apply BDO audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
- Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, and banks regarding audit issues.
- Document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned accounting or audit research project for presentation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting (required).
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting (preferred).
- Leadership experience (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
