Assurance Intern - Summer 2027 (Richmond)

About the role#

This internship provides hands-on experience within the Assurance practice. Interns work alongside experienced team members to support audit engagements, solve problems, and build professional relationships. The role includes a structured on-the-job training program designed to help you apply your academic background to real-world client work.

What you'll do#

• Participate in structured training to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Assist with various stages of the audit process using firm-specific audit methodology.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned research project for presentation to Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required; a Masters degree is preferred.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow directions.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
