Assurance Intern - Summer 2027 (Anchorage)

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced team members to serve a diverse client base. This role focuses on problem-solving, fact-finding, and building professional relationships within the audit practice. You will participate in a structured training program designed to help you develop your technical skills and understanding of the firm's audit methodology.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Assist with various stages of the audit process using BDO-specific methodology, tools, and templates.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements and document work in working papers.
• Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Contribute ideas to audit teams and engage with team members' perspectives.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting is required; a Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team setting, and maintain a positive, learning-oriented attitude.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
