About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will participate in a structured on-the-job training program designed to build your understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). You will work alongside experienced team members, assisting with problem solving and fact-finding for our client base. This role provides a hands-on perspective of audit methodology and offers the opportunity to build professional relationships within the firm.
What you'll do#
- Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology throughout various stages of the engagement process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff and contribute ideas or opinions to the team.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present findings to a panel of professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required.
- Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting and previous leadership experience are preferred.
