About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to assist with client engagements and develop foundational skills in the accounting profession. This role provides hands-on experience with audit processes and allows you to build professional relationships while contributing to the firm's client service objectives.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Apply BDO specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements, including preparing and documenting work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
- Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and respond to team member feedback.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required.
- Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting and leadership experience are preferred.
