Assurance Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to gain hands-on experience in the audit practice. This role focuses on applying your academic background to real-world audit engagements, problem-solving, and building professional relationships within the firm.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Assist with various stages of the audit process by applying BDO-specific audit methodology, tools, and templates.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements and document work in working papers.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to the audit team.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required; a Masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
