About the role#
The Automation Engineering Co-op supports manufacturing operations by assisting with automation, controls, data collection, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with automation engineers, maintenance, operations, quality, and project teams to improve equipment reliability, production efficiency, and operational visibility. This is a 6-month, full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist with PLC and HMI programming, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Support commissioning and validation of automation projects.
- Collect and analyze production, downtime, and equipment performance data.
- Develop and maintain electrical, network, and controls documentation.
- Assist with industrial network troubleshooting and device integration.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Help implement process improvements focused on safety, quality, throughput, and OEE.
- Create visualizations for operational performance metrics.
- Support upgrades and integrations involving sensors, barcode readers, printers, vision systems, and other plant automation equipment.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to support process improvements and data accuracy initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful completion of project deliverables.
- Maintain documentation and project records.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with an automation focus, or a related discipline.
- You must remain enrolled in school upon completion of the co-op.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems is preferred.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and operational stakeholders is preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills are preferred.
- A self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Breinigsville, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027).
- Modality: Fully on-site, five days per week.
