About the role#
This internship offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience within the distribution design team. You will support the coordination and design of new construction and maintenance projects for the electrical distribution system. This role involves balancing office-based design work with field visits to ensure reliable service for our customers.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and design distribution system construction and maintenance projects.
- Meet with customers and local agencies to determine service requirements and project feasibility.
- Manage work requests and project details in the Work Management System (WMS).
- Perform load analysis to design reliable electrical solutions.
- Create and update electrical features in the Geographical Information System (GIS).
- Produce construction prints for field operations and determine the scale of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans.
- Prepare cost estimates and calculate project revenue.
- Inspect energized equipment and troubleshoot customer voltage complaints.
- Investigate and test the integrity of distribution facilities.
- Interpret plans for large commercial projects and master-planned developments.
- Support reliability issues and circuit improvement efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or graduate student.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Junior or Senior standing.
- Ability to work in the field approximately once per week.
- Commitment to participate in emergency and disaster response as a condition of employment.
