About the role#
This internship provides practical experience within the IT Security Department at TECO Energy. You will work with the Cyber Fusion Center, Governance and Risk Team, and the Identity and Access Management Team. This role is based at the Bearss Operations Center in Lutz, Florida.
What you'll do#
- Monitor IT security tools and applications daily by completing checklists.
- Document root cause analysis and assist with internal investigations.
- Track and document key cybersecurity performance, threat, and risk metrics.
- Collect and present evidence related to computer and network activity.
- Review servers and networks for vulnerabilities, patching needs, and antivirus signature status.
- Update security processes and desk-level procedures.
- Support projects that help the IT Security Department improve its maturity.
- Complete daily tasks related to Identity and Access Management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
- A major in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a background check, including criminal and motor vehicle records.
- Enrollment in a university co-op program is preferred.
