About the role#
The External Affairs Intern supports our engagement with government agencies, community stakeholders, and business partners. You will gain hands-on experience in relationship management, strategic communications, and regional affairs while contributing to initiatives that strengthen our presence in the community.
What you'll do#
- Research public policy issues.
- Coordinate community and corporate events.
- Track legislative and regulatory developments.
- Prepare communications and briefing materials for leadership.
- Participate in emergency and disaster response activities, known as Storm Duty, to help maintain service for our customers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science or a related discipline.
- Junior or Senior standing.
- Proof of enrollment in a university co-op program if applicable.
Location & details#
- Location: 3600 Midtown Drive, Tampa, Florida.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Part-time, 20-30 hours per week.
- Work Modality: On-site. You will work in an office environment and visit the field weekly, which includes riding in a vehicle to attend community events.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Requirements: Participation in storm response activities is a condition of employment. Pre-employment screening includes a drug test, physical exam, and background check.
