About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to explore career paths within Transmission Engineering. You will gain hands-on experience, apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects, and build your professional network. This is a paid position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop new and existing transmission lines across the service area.
- Attend meetings with internal departments, external vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in required training sessions focused on engineering principles, safety, and leadership.
- Support the transmission engineering team on various tasks as needed.
- Participate in storm response and recovery activities, which is a condition of employment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering program, specifically in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Enrollment in a university co-op program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Successful completion of your junior year if applying for substation engineering roles.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to write professional documents.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Punctuality and clear communication skills.

- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Modality: On-site at the TECO Eastern Service Area.
- Schedule: Full-time hours are expected.
