About the role#
This position is for students currently enrolled in a sterile processing program. You will work under supervision to maintain the cleanliness and safety of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Oklahoma City.
What you'll do#
- Clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and reusable supplies.
- Inspect instruments to ensure they are functional and clean before sterilization.
- Operate, test, and load autoclaves and sonic cleaners.
- Maintain department work surfaces and complete sterilization log sheets.
- Monitor sterile inventory for expired or compromised items and re-sterilize as needed.
- Deliver instruments to the appropriate departments on time.
- Follow Universal Precautions and wear protective gear while working in the decontamination area.
- Notify staff of any supply shortages.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) program.
- You must obtain your CSPDT or CRCST certification within 18 months of your hire date.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation standards, sterilization safety, and medical equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work well within a team.
- Strong attention to detail regarding patient safety.
