About the role#
The Nurse Extern program is a paid, full-time opportunity for nursing students to gain clinical experience between their junior and senior years. You will work approximately 36 hours per week from mid-December 2026 through January 2027. This program offers exposure to various medical specialties, including intensive care, oncology, acute care, cardiovascular surgery, neonatal care, obstetrics, and emergency services.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic patient care under the guidance of a bedside mentor.
- Collaborate with nurses in expanded or advanced practice roles, such as nurse practitioners or clinical nurse specialists.
- Present information to healthcare team members or leadership.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support the clinical team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school, specifically between your junior and senior year.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
- Knowledge of nursing techniques and the ability to perform basic patient assessments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with computer and problem-solving abilities.

- This role is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- The externship runs for four weeks, starting in mid-December 2026 and ending in January 2027.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
