About the role#
This 10-week internship provides immersive education and hands-on experience within an academic health system. Interns work 40 hours per week under the mentorship of hospital leadership to develop professional skills and expand their industry networks. The role involves contributing to business-focused projects that support hospital operations and prepare students for post-graduation careers.
What you'll do#
- Shadow administrative and professional units to understand hospital policies, procedures, and departmental functions.
- Attend and participate in meetings with administrative staff and hospital committees.
- Complete designated business-focused projects and present outcomes to hospital leadership.
- Prepare reports and maintain records for assigned project work.
- Provide suggestions to management regarding service and process improvements.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support administrative activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Master’s Degree program in Hospital Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of hospital administration.
- Familiarity with managerial techniques, including office procedures, business communications, and public relations.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork with hospital staff and the public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to evaluate situations and determine appropriate courses of action.
