About the role#
OU Health is hiring a Pharmacy Intern to work on a part-time, rolling basis at our Oklahoma City location. This position is open to current students in an accredited college of pharmacy, recent graduates with registration pending, or foreign graduates working toward their internship requirements. You will work on-site under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to support pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and distribute medications while following safety protocols.
- Review medication and IV orders for drug interactions or incompatibilities.
- Provide clinical interventions by communicating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff.
- Prepare intravenous admixtures and sterile products using aseptic techniques.
- Receive and input new discharge medication orders into management software.
- Complete prescriptions from start to finish, including filling, packaging, and labeling.
- Prepare adherence-packaged medications for patients.
- Weigh, measure, and mix medicinal compounds.
- Maintain proper storage for biologicals, vaccines, and serums.
- Keep the pharmacy clean, orderly, and professional.
- Report safety issues or errors to your supervisor immediately.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active Oklahoma licensed intern permit in good standing.
- Enrollment in or graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
- Knowledge of pharmacology principles and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to the public.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs.
- Physical ability to climb, crouch, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
