About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences. This role focuses on developing your clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service to patients and assist with medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify medication details with prescribers.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, processing returns, and stocking medication deliveries.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members as you gain experience.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, documenting information as required.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures to maintain safety and compliance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong focus and the ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient needs.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to prescription dispensing.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
