About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student role at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital offers hands-on experience by working alongside Registered Nurses. You will provide direct patient care, assist with daily activities, and develop your clinical skills in a professional hospital environment. This is a part-time, paid position designed to support your nursing education through practical application.
What you'll do#
- Support the nursing process under the direction of an RN.
- Provide basic patient care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, feeding, and hydration.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake, and output.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing staff, reporting changes or concerns promptly.
- Document patient data accurately and participate in shift hand-offs.
- Perform delegated tasks once your competency is validated.
- Seek out educational opportunities to build critical thinking and nursing practice skills.
- Maintain high levels of customer service for patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly with the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards and infection prevention.
- BLS certification is preferred.
- Recent experience in acute or long-term care is preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred.
