About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student supports the Adult Behavioral Unit at Lourdes Hospital. This position offers clinical experience and exposure through job shadowing and direct patient care. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) to develop your skills and contribute to patient care delivery.
What you'll do#
- Support the RN with the nursing process and collaborate to ensure quality care.
- Provide basic patient care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, and comfort measures.
- Record vital signs and participate in patient data collection.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, hydration, and nutrition.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and the nursing team, reporting any changes or concerns.
- Document patient care accurately and participate in hand-off reports.
- Perform delegated tasks once your competency is validated.
- Utilize clinical technology and escalate concerns through the chain of command.
- Seek out educational opportunities to grow your nursing practice.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- A High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- BLS certification is preferred.
- Recent experience in an acute care or long term care facility is preferred.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred.
