About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student role provides direct patient care while gaining clinical experience. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to support the nursing process and develop critical thinking skills. This position is designed for students to learn through job shadowing and the provision of care within their validated scope of practice.
What you'll do#
- Support the Registered Nurse in the application of the nursing process.
- Provide basic patient care, including vital signs, personal care, hygiene, and comfort.
- Assist patients with ambulation, mobility, feeding, hydration, and elimination.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and the nurse to report changes or concerns.
- Participate in patient data collection and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
- Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
- Participate in hand-off reports regarding patient and departmental needs.
- Utilize clinical technology as applicable and escalate concerns through the proper chain of command.
- Provide high-level customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions from the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection prevention, and healthcare regulations.
- BLS certification is preferred.
- Recent experience in an acute or long-term care facility is preferred.
- Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) is preferred.
