About the role#
This position is for a nursing student to gain clinical experience within the Ortho and Oncology units. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care. This role focuses on building your critical thinking skills and clinical knowledge while you complete your nursing education.
What you'll do#
- Support the nursing process by collaborating with RNs on patient care delivery.
- Record vital signs and assist with patient data collection.
- Help patients with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and ambulation.
- Assist with feeding, hydration, nutrition, and elimination needs.
- Act as a liaison between patients and their nursing team, reporting any changes or concerns.
- Participate in shift hand-offs and provide timely documentation.
- Perform delegated tasks once your competency is validated.
- Use clinical technology and escalate concerns through the proper chain of command.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
- Seek out educational opportunities to grow your nursing practice.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Recent experience in acute or long-term care is preferred.
- BLS certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred.
