About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at Trinity Health Oakland, you will work as a member of the health care team. You will partner with and work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role allows you to apply your nursing education to direct patient care and gain experience as you progress toward your future career as a Registered Nurse.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic bedside care and selected procedures.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide basic nutritional support, including feeding assistance and intake documentation.
- Help with the patient admission process.
- Report changes in a patient's condition to the RN.
- Provide care that respects patient rights, dignity, and cultural preferences.
- Support the unit-based shared governance council.
- Seek out learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients and families.
- Participate in unit-based committees and initiatives.
- Incorporate feedback to improve your clinical performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing with active student status.
- Completion of at least two clinical nursing rotations, including one Medical/Surgical rotation.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Preference for students enrolled in a bachelor's program.
- Ability to manage time and tasks effectively in a clinical setting.
