About the role#
The Nurse Intern supports patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with essential care tasks and help maintain a therapeutic environment. This role focuses on hands-on learning, collaboration with the care team, and providing safe, organized care to patients in the Emergency Department.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care, including vital sign monitoring, hygiene assistance, and comfort measures.
- Communicate with the care team during handoffs and participate in bedside shift reports.
- Report changes in patient conditions to the nursing staff.
- Develop clinical skills by applying evidence-based practices under the guidance of an RN.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in patient rooms and shared workspaces.
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance, such as glucometers and scales.
- Ensure patient care equipment is cleaned, stored, and removed in a timely manner.
- Perform hourly rounding and purposeful interactions with patients.
- Document tasks and observations accurately and on time.
- Uphold customer service standards with patients and families.
- Maintain regular attendance and follow all facility policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program.
- Zero to one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- CPR certification from the AHA, ARC, or ASHI.
