About the role#
The Student Nurse role in the Inpatient Rehab unit provides hands-on clinical experience. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to gain exposure to the nursing process and develop your critical thinking skills. This position is designed to support your professional growth while you assist with direct patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care and support the nursing process under the direction of an RN.
- Record vital signs and perform accurate, timely documentation.
- Assist patients with personal care, hygiene, mobility, feeding, and hydration.
- Help with bowel and bladder elimination needs.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing team by reporting changes or concerns.
- Participate in shift hand-off reports and departmental updates.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks once your competency is validated.
- Utilize clinical technology and escalate concerns through the proper chain of command.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to communicate with the healthcare team and follow safety regulations.
- BLS certification is preferred.
- Recent experience in acute or long-term care is preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred.
