About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern at Brown University Health, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to support patient care assignments. This role involves performing a variety of nursing functions while gaining hands-on experience in a hospital setting. You will help maintain unit operations and ensure patients receive consistent care.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with daily living activities.
- Support registered nurses with the nursing process, including gathering assessment data and monitoring patient responses to interventions.
- Follow nursing management plans and perform approved treatments under supervision.
- Provide or reinforce instructions for patients.
- Act as a patient sitter for safety watch cases.
- Maintain standards for quality assurance, safety, and infection control.
- Help with the general function of the nursing unit.
What you'll need#
- Active licensure as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.
- Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Completion of at least one clinical rotation in an acute care hospital.
- Enrollment in a nursing program, preferably a CCNE-accredited Baccalaureate degree program, though Associates degree students are also considered.
- Ability to provide care across the life span while considering human development and cultural patterns.
- Physical ability to perform tasks like lifting or turning patients and equipment, as well as prolonged standing and walking.
