About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Brown University Health, you will assist pharmacists and technicians with the preparation, formulation, and delivery of medications. This role provides supervised clinical experience to help you develop your professional skills while following hospital policies and state regulations.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and formulate medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain and manage medication inventory, including controlled substances and automated dispensing cabinets.
- Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with safety standards.
- Deliver medications to various patient care areas, clinics, and operating rooms.
- Maintain pharmacy records, perform equipment calibration, and ensure medication storage areas remain orderly.
- Assist with medication reconciliation by verifying patient home medication histories.
- Support quality improvement projects and medication safety initiatives.
- Provide customer service by answering phones and interacting with patients, families, and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least the first year of an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Unrestricted pharmacy intern licensure in the State of Rhode Island.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and comfort using web-based applications.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer service.
- Ability to multitask and adjust priorities while maintaining high accuracy.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver equipment, along with the capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
