About the role#
The Patient Care Associate (PCA) Student Training program at Bon Secours provides hands-on clinical experience for students interested in healthcare. You will work under the guidance of a registered nurse or designated professional to learn core clinical competencies and support patient care. This is a full-time, paid training position designed to help you build your skills in a hospital environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, and vital sign measurement.
- Act as a liaison between patients and nursing staff by reporting changes or concerns.
- Deliver high-level customer service to patients, their families, and hospital visitors.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
- Participate in shift hand-offs to share information regarding patient and unit needs.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks under supervision to gain competency.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant program such as Nursing or Biomedical Sciences.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is preferred upon hire, and you must obtain it from an approved source before beginning direct patient care.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work proactively and adapt to changes in the clinical environment.
- Understanding of healthcare safety standards, regulations, and infection prevention.
- Recent experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
