About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a training roadmap to gain experience in pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient prescription fulfillment while developing your clinical and technical skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes with prescribers.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Manage basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions and maintain accurate patient documentation.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and privacy standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete required training and obtain immunization certification.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Willingness to travel to other stores within the market as needed.
