About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world clinical practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and delivering high-quality service to our patients.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams in delivering on our brand promise and operational goals.
- Complete a training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences and store operations oversight.
- Fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately while following standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details as needed.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Manage basic inventory tasks, such as cycle counts, returns, and processing medication deliveries.
- Offer immunizations and other patient services where permitted by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, including privacy regulations and controlled substance protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Availability for regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Preferred: 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and travel to other store locations within the market.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
