About the role#
Live Oak Bank is looking for a Data Science Intern to join our analytics team for a 10-week summer program. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Wilmington, North Carolina, from May 17 to July 23, 2027. This role focuses on building analytics solutions that improve our banking processes and products while helping you gain a deep understanding of small business banking.
What you'll do#
- Work with stakeholders to define and measure critical KPIs.
- Build data visualizations to monitor business unit performance and display key insights.
- Use SQL and Python to analyze complex data sets and improve business decisions.
- Apply machine learning to increase the efficiency of our processes and products.
- Identify new data sources and integrate them into our data platform.
- Present your results to stakeholders to drive business value.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time degree program in Finance, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python and data querying languages like SQL.
- Experience using data visualization software.
- Knowledge of basic statistical analysis.
- Strong partnership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across different groups.
