About the role#
Live Oak Bank is looking for an intern to join our AI Enablement and Forward-Deployed Engineering team for a 10-week summer program. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Wilmington, NC. This role focuses on bridging the gap between technical AI capabilities and daily business operations. You will spend your time embedded with various teams across the bank to identify friction points, build practical solutions, and teach employees how to use AI tools effectively.
What you'll do#
- Embed with business teams in lending, deposits, credit, and operations to identify and solve workflow challenges.
- Build and ship working tools using Claude, Claude Code, Power Automate, and low-code platforms.
- Translate technical constraints into clear language for business leaders.
- Document your solutions so teams can maintain them after your internship ends.
- Create training materials including prompt libraries, quick-reference guides, and video walkthroughs.
- Run hands-on training sessions for employees at various skill levels.
- Support users by troubleshooting enterprise AI tools and identifying patterns in recurring questions.
- Define and track metrics related to adoption, usage, and time saved.
- Deliver a final presentation to senior leadership detailing the impact of your work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- A portfolio, GitHub, or set of shipped projects you can discuss in detail.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI tools as part of your daily workflow.
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical team members.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Experience building with modern web or automation stacks.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or leading a team.
- Exposure to a regulated industry or a strong interest in banking operations.
- Data analysis skills to build a measurement framework.
