About the role#
This internship with the Forest Economics and Research team at JPMorgan Natural Capital provides hands-on experience in economic research and data-driven decision-making. You will work alongside industry professionals to support timberland investment strategies and business initiatives. This is a full-time, fixed-term position lasting up to 10 weeks, beginning in June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support economic research projects focused on timberland investments, natural resource assets, and forest products markets.
- Analyze financial and market data to inform investment decisions and strategic planning.
- Build and maintain datasets, analytical tools, and economic models for research.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and research methodologies.
- Present findings through reports, visualizations, and presentations.
- Monitor commodity markets, economic indicators, and industry trends.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to learn about acquisitions, ESG initiatives, and portfolio management.
- Manage project timelines and provide status updates to internship leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Forest Economics, Applied Economics, Forest Management, Natural Resource Economics, or a related field.
- A Bachelor's degree in Forest Management, Economics, Business Administration, Natural Resources, or Environmental Economics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting complex datasets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in written, verbal, and visual formats.
- Interest in timberland investments, carbon markets, forest finance, or environmental markets.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, R, or Python is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI-powered productivity and research tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
