About the role#
Data Scientists at Hudson River Trading extract useful information from the vast volume of data available globally. You will work within the Algo department to normalize and validate vendor data, extract features from quantitative and textual sources, and apply rigorous quality checks. This internship offers a hands-on introduction to data, modeling, and engineering practices within the algorithmic trading industry.
What you'll do#
- Normalize and validate vendor data.
- Extract features from quantitative and textual data.
- Apply rigorous quality checks.
- Investigate methodologies to provide high quality data for research and trading.
- Complete independent data investigation projects using Python libraries like pandas and polars.
- Participate in team events and learn about the research and trading infrastructure.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a STEM field, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
- Programming experience in Python, equivalent to the depth found in Python for Data Analysis by Wes McKinney.
- A natural curiosity for working with data and finding insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with independent data projects or Kaggle competitions is a plus.
