About the role#
As a Data Scientist Summer Intern, you will join the AI & Data Group at Lazard. You will work alongside data scientists, investment bankers, portfolio managers, and senior management. The team builds data-driven solutions for Financial Advisory and Asset Management. You will help analyze large-scale financial data sets to extract insights that add value to the firm.
What you'll do#
- Apply machine learning, statistical modeling, and large-language-model technologies to business problems.
- Develop data-driven tools for Financial Advisory and Asset Management.
- Communicate technical insights to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to build practical tools.
- Manage the full project lifecycle from design to deployment and performance analysis.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with a preference for object-oriented programming experience.
- Proficiency in machine learning algorithms and statistical or econometric modeling.
- Ability to query and analyze data from large-scale databases, with a preference for big data engineering experience.
- Experience with data visualization and presenting technical results to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with large language model (LLM) frameworks.
- A strong interest in finance, with previous related experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based in New York, New York.
- The program runs from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
- The role is on-site in New York for the duration of the internship.
