About the role#
Invariant is seeking a Creative Design Intern for the fall 2026 term. This is a hands-on, full-time position working directly with the Art Director on client projects. You will contribute to design production for government relations and communications accounts.
What you'll do#
- Execute design production for client accounts, including social graphics, presentation decks, digital assets, and print collateral.
- Update and edit existing files in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign to create versioned exports.
- Support the development and build-out of branded PowerPoint templates.
- Manage your own workload by logging requests, updating status reports, and flagging blockers.
- Conduct research to support creative briefs and campaign concepts.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and the broader digital team on active accounts.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Working knowledge of Figma, including the ability to navigate files, make edits, and export assets.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality design.
- Ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with strong communication skills.
- Experience with PowerPoint template design and project management tools like Basecamp is a plus.
- Interest in public affairs, communications, or political strategy is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026, beginning August 31, 2026.
- Compensation: $19 per hour for undergraduate candidates or $24 per hour for graduate candidates.
- Eligibility: Preference given to candidates who can commit to a full-time schedule.
