Invariant is seeking a Creative Design Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a hands-on, full-time position working directly with the Art Director on client-facing projects. You will contribute to real work from your first day, supporting the firm's government relations and communications efforts.
What you'll do#
- Execute design production for client accounts, including social graphics, presentation decks, digital assets, and print collateral.
- Edit and update existing files in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, including managing versioned exports.
- Support the development and construction of branded PowerPoint templates.
- Manage your own workload by logging requests, updating project statuses, and proactively flagging blockers.
- Conduct research to support creative briefs and campaign concepts.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and the broader digital team on active accounts.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Working knowledge of Figma, including the ability to navigate files, edit, and export assets.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on pixel-perfect execution.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to communicate effectively, follow up, and ask questions.
- Ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with PowerPoint template design, familiarity with project management tools like Basecamp, and interest in public affairs, communications, or political strategy.
- Relevant majors include Graphic Design, Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, Business Administration, or Political Science.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026, beginning August 31, 2026.
- Compensation: $19/hour for undergraduate candidates; $24/hour for graduate candidates.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
