About the role#
ClearPath is hiring State Government Fellows for the Conservative Leadership Program. This is a one-year temporary fellowship designed for early to mid-career professionals. You will work in state government offices, including legislative offices, committees, or governors' offices. Your placement will focus on clean energy, natural resources, infrastructure, and economic development. Fellows gain hands-on experience in state policymaking while engaging in professional development sessions facilitated by ClearPath.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze state policies regarding energy, environment, natural resources, and infrastructure.
- Monitor state legislation, regulations, and administrative actions.
- Draft policy memos, legislative summaries, briefing materials, and talking points.
- Attend legislative hearings, stakeholder meetings, and policy briefings.
- Track federal programs and funding opportunities that affect state energy priorities.
- Support the implementation of policy priorities related to clean energy, permitting, and economic competitiveness.
- Assist host offices with agendas, correspondence, newsletters, and operational tasks.
- Communicate technical policy issues to diverse audiences.
- Engage with stakeholders such as state agencies, utilities, industry groups, and regulators.
- Identify emerging policy opportunities and provide recommendations.
What you'll need#
- A college degree.
- Two to five years of experience in a related field.
- Understanding of state government and the policymaking process.
- Knowledge of current energy and public policy issues.
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with policymakers and external stakeholders.
- Professional experience in energy, environmental, or infrastructure policy is a plus.
- Prior exposure to state government, a legislature, or a government agency is preferred.
- A commitment to ClearPath's mission and interest in conservative clean energy policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
