About the role#
The Harper Book Group is looking for a Publicity Intern to join our team for the summer. You will work with experienced publicists to create and execute campaigns for a wide range of titles, including literary and commercial fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, and politics. You will help coordinate the life cycle of a book, from internal team collaboration to outreach with media outlets, influencers, and bookstores.
What you'll do#
- Perform general administrative duties, including processing mailings and managing internal databases.
- Research media opportunities across platforms like Muckrack, Podchaser, and social media.
- Create promotional materials such as press kits, author bios, and book summaries.
- Support Publicity Directors with media outreach and maintain records of all publicity efforts.
- Handle data entry for media and event bookings.
- Manage author travel, media appearances, and tour schedules.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, processing invoices, and tracking expenses.
- Attend internal meetings and select off-site author events.
What you'll need#
- Availability to work in our NYC office from Monday through Thursday, June 7 to August 12, 2027.
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master's program.
- Eligibility to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028.
- Up to 1 year of work experience.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong organizational, communication, and social media skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for books and the publishing industry.
- A resume and cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
