About the role#
The Production Editorial Intern helps prepare books for publication during their final stages of development. You will work with a Production Editorial Manager on a variety of children’s and adult trade titles. This role provides exposure to the day-to-day operations of the department and includes opportunities to meet with employees across the organization.
What you'll do#
- Review interior and cover components for typographical correctness and stylistic consistency.
- Collate author changes and proofreading corrections to ensure accuracy.
- Mark up PDFs using Adobe Acrobat commenting tools.
- Conduct production editorial checks on typeset pages, including line breaks, text flow, and formatting.
- Proofread and fact-check cover copy.
- Copyedit and proofread ancillary documents like marketing materials and reading group guides.
- Assist with bound galley production and reprint corrections.
- Manage administrative tasks and keep status grids up to date.
- Attend departmental and company meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master’s program in English, Communications, or Media Studies.
- Availability to work 21 hours per week across 3 or 4 days, from February 8 to April 16, 2027.
- Eligibility to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028.
- Status as a rising senior, recent graduate, master’s student, or entry-level candidate with up to 1 year of work experience.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A resume and a cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
- A genuine interest in books.
