About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with the full lifecycle of a book campaign at Nelson Books. You will work with the marketing and publicity team to learn how books are positioned, launched, and connected with readers. You will contribute to team meetings and gain exposure to both in-person and remote workflows.
What you'll do#
- Draft and proofread marketing plans, email campaigns, promotional copy, and sales materials.
- Conduct research on competitive titles, audiences, trends, and platforms.
- Develop social media strategies and content ideas.
- Track key assets, deadlines, and launch milestones for multiple titles.
- Build targeted media lists and identify mainstream and faith media opportunities.
- Create press materials like releases, author bios, talking points, and pitches.
- Support media outreach by personalizing pitches and coordinating interview logistics.
- Prepare briefing materials for authors.
- Manage promotional mailings, including shipping Advance Reader Copies and setting up giveaways.
What you'll need#
- Status as a rising senior, recent graduate, or master's student.
- Up to 1 year of work experience.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A resume and a cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
- Proficiency in design tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
- Familiarity with PR platforms such as Muck Rack or Podchaser is a bonus.
- A passion for books and the publishing industry.

- Location: Nashville, Tennessee.
- Term: June 7 to August 12, 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, with mandatory in-office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
