About the role#
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an Editorial Intern for the Nelson Books team in Nashville. This role provides hands-on experience with the editorial process, from early proposal reviews to final production tasks. You will work alongside a collaborative team to help shape manuscripts and prepare them for publication.
What you'll do#
- Support the Senior Managing Editor by setting up titles, updating title plans, and managing sales conference materials.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing meeting notes, trackers, and mailings.
- Help Production Editors by copyediting, reviewing proofreader marks, and performing formatting proofs.
- Fact check citations, quotations, Scripture references, and sourced material.
- Review back cover copy and final jackets before they go to the printer.
- Provide feedback on manuscripts and proposals to editors.
- Attend team meetings and participate in initial manuscript reads.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master's program, with a preference for English, Journalism, or Publishing majors.
- Status as a rising senior, recent graduate, or entry-level candidate with up to one year of work experience.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Location & details#
- This is a paid internship at $18 per hour.
- The term runs from June 7 to August 12, 2027.
- You will work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
- The role is hybrid, with mandatory in-office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Nashville, Tennessee.
