About the role#
The Forbes Editorial Fellowship is a 12-month immersive training program for early career business journalists. The program begins with a week-long business journalism bootcamp taught by editors. Fellows then rotate through the newsroom across four 3-month assignments to develop skills in financial analysis, investigations, source development, and news reporting.
What you'll do#
- Pitch, report, and write breaking news, trend pieces, second day takes, and feature length business stories.
- Work on wealth valuations and financial investigations focused on the world’s wealthiest people.
- Collaborate with veteran reporters to cultivate sources and find scoops.
- Conduct research for list rankings, including contacting sources, gathering data, and writing short profiles.
- Fact-check the Daily Cover Story on Forbes.com and magazine stories.
- Partner with Forbes staffers on special projects.
What you'll need#
- Recent college graduate from an undergraduate or graduate program, having graduated within the past 24 months.
- A degree in journalism, significant experience at a collegiate publication, or a previous journalism internship.
- Prior experience in fact-checking, reporting, writing, and editing.
- Solid news judgment and an understanding of editorial ethics.
- Experience with publishing platforms, digital and social media technologies, and SEO best practices.
- Strong interest in business and entrepreneurship with the ability to interpret financial documents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position.
- The role is based in Jersey City, New Jersey.
- This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum of one day per week of in-person collaboration at the headquarters.
- Candidates must reside in one of the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Washington.
