About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacists the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role is designed to prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams and processes. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions, including SIG code translation, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage manual claim forms.
- Maintain inventory according to company policies.
- Counsel patients under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and monitoring compliance.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and testing where permitted.
- Participate in store operational meetings and maintain a professional work environment.
- Perform prescription pick-up procedures and assist customers with inquiries.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of Texas.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
