About the role#
The Human Resources Intern will support the daily operations of the HR department at the Hampton University Proton Cancer Institute. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Hampton, Virginia. Interns will gain experience in policy management, file administration, and software implementation while contributing to the overall goals of the institute.
What you'll do#
- Write and gather departmental policies and procedures or SOPs.
- Shadow the staffing department to assist with creation and organization of final binders.
- Review and update binders as needed.
- Revise onboarding and new hire paperwork, converting documents into fillable electronic formats.
- Re-organize personnel files in accordance with federal laws.
- Manage file intake, removal of terminated files, and expunging records past the required retention date.
- Create a PowerPoint presentation for onboarding and benefits orientation.
- Assist with the configuration of Dayforce HCM and MedTrainer software.
- Contribute ideas and plans for employee engagement.
- Complete a final presentation at the end of the internship summarizing your projects, skills developed, and overall experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program of study or graduation within the last 12 months.
- Majors in Human Resources or Business Administration.
- Proof of good academic standing.
- A copy of your academic class schedule.
- A recent resume or cover letter.
- A course syllabus if you are seeking academic credit.
