About the role#
This internship provides practical exposure to preconstruction and estimating workflows for mechanical construction projects. You will support the team in planning and developing competitive proposals while building technical knowledge and professional communication skills. You will work under the guidance of experienced team members to understand how projects move from initial concept and estimate to construction.
What you'll do#
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to understand project requirements.
- Support quantity takeoffs and organize labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor information for estimates.
- Help prepare bid folders, estimate files, scope sheets, and proposal documents.
- Assist with soliciting, tracking, and organizing vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Participate in scope reviews, bid meetings, site visits, and project handoff meetings.
- Identify drawing or specification questions and support the preparation of requests for clarification.
- Maintain organized project information and historical cost data.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, engineering, and operations teams.
- Learn and apply company safety, quality, and ethical standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical information.
- Prior coursework or exposure to construction, estimating, mechanical systems, engineering, or scheduling.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, digital takeoff tools, BIM, Bluebeam, or estimating software.
- Previous experience in a trade, field, customer service, leadership, or team-based role.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and build positive working relationships.
- High standards of quality and attention to detail.

- Location: Aurora, Colorado.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
- Status: Full-time internship.
