About the role#
We are seeking a Project Engineer Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This role supports the project team with the coordination, scheduling, and billing of mechanical and plumbing projects. You will assist the Project Manager in maintaining project flow from inception to completion and help resolve field issues as they arise.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager in driving overall project flow.
- Review contract and bid documents from estimating.
- Attend walk-throughs and assist with project document control, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and correspondence.
- Ensure project documents are centrally saved in the chosen software.
- Verify that correct drawings are distributed to the field.
- Support the project schedule and track deliveries of major equipment and sub-contractors.
- Facilitate material takeoffs by trade foremen.
- Support the accounting department with monthly billings and collections.
- Collaborate with foremen regarding project safety, including toolbox talks.
- Gather information for changes in work and assist field personnel with project closeout and as-builts.
- Escalate sensitive issues to the Project Manager and comply with company policies and safety programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and project management software is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, management, suppliers, and customers.
- High standards of quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to receive constructive criticism and work effectively in a professional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English.
