About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will partner with our safety team to learn how to apply and enforce company safety policies, work procedures, and initiatives. This role focuses on promoting a culture of safety first while providing hands-on experience in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Comply with federal, state, and local safety and health guidelines, as well as site-specific provisions.
- Partner with the safety team on site-specific training and awareness events.
- Monitor safety practice compliance throughout the worksite.
- Assist in responding to safety incidents and administer First Aid when needed.
- Participate in walk-through audits for safety practices and site facility inspections.
- Perform routine onsite activities, including the assignment of safety equipment and gathering medical documentation.
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to HRM or Executive Leaders with recommendations for resolution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Active enrollment in college courses in a related field.
- A long-term interest in a construction-related career.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work efficiently.
- Excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- High standards of quality with attention to detail.
- Conscientiousness, personal responsibility, and dependability.
- Familiarity with Windows-based operating systems and web-based applications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or other construction and financial software packages.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Des Moines, Iowa.
- The position operates on a rolling basis.
