About the role#
As a Mechanical Project Engineer Intern, you will support the Project Manager with engineering functions at assigned project sites. You will work across various markets including semiconductor, healthcare, higher education, data centers, and manufacturing. This position is open to juniors or seniors currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
What you'll do#
- Support the project team in driving the overall flow from inception to completion.
- Review contract and bid documents from estimating and attend project walk-throughs.
- Manage project documentation including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
- Save all project documents centrally in the project management software.
- Verify that the correct drawings are distributed to the field.
- Assist with the project schedule, tracking deliveries of major equipment and sub-contractor requirements.
- Facilitate material takeoffs with trade foremen.
- Support the accounting department with monthly billings and collections.
- Collaborate with foremen on project safety, including toolbox talks and site walk-throughs.
- Gather information for changes in work and assist field personnel with project closeout, including obtaining as-builts.
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to the Project Manager.
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management currently in progress, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, project management software, and other technical construction programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High standards of quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and receive constructive criticism.
- Self-motivated approach to work.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
